March Photos

Hello everyone, I have not been around a lot this month due to various and sundry excuses, among which was a trip to Hawaii. Below are a few photos I took.

February Photos

I decided to do something a little different this month. I am going to focus on one destination. I had the opportunity to fly to and spend a short time at St Maarten. It is a beautiful island and for those who visualize the perfect vacation as a tropical paradise with beautiful beaches, blue waters, warm days and lots of sunshine, St Maarten scores a perfect 10!

Before I post the pictures I took, I thought a bit of geography and history of St Maarten would be interesting.

Saint Martin (French: Saint-Martin; Dutch: Sint Maarten) is an island in the northeast Caribbean, approximately 300 km (190 mi) east of Puerto Rico.

In 1493, Christopher Columbus embarked on his second voyage to the New World. According to legend, Columbus sighted and perhaps anchored at the island of Saint Martin on November 11, 1493, the feast day of Saint Martin of Tours. In his honor, Columbus named the island San Martin.

The 87 square kilometer (34 sq mi) island is divided roughly 60/40 between France and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the two parts are roughly equal in population. It is one of the smallest sea islands divided between two nations, a division dating to 1648.

The main industry of the island is tourism. In 2000, the island had about one million visitors annually and approximately 85% of the workforce was engaged in the tourist industry. With the wind direction predominantly from the east or the northeast, temperatures remain steady throughout the year with an average mean temperature of 27.2 °C (81.0 °F).
The island is served by many major airlines that daily bring in large jet aircraft, including Boeing 747s and Airbus A340s, carrying tourists from across the world. The short main runway at Princess Juliana International Airport, and its position between a large hill and a beach, causes some spectacular approaches. Aviation photographers flock to the airport to capture pictures of large jets just a few meters above sunbathers (who are often blown away by the jet blast if they are standing in its path) on Maho Beach.
I didn’t take this picture, but I did see a lot of large airplanes like this one. Maho beach is a paradise in itself for airplane watchers!
St. Martin's Dutch side is known for its festive nightlife, beaches, jewelry, exotic drinks made with native rum-based guavaberry liquors, and plentiful casinos. The island's French side is known for its nude beaches, clothes, shopping (including outdoor markets), and rich French and Indian Caribbean cuisine. I was not in town long enough to check out the French side, but on my next trip I am definitly going to plan a visit to a French beach! I hear the views are stunning....of the ocean of course!  :-)
Now for the pictures I took.

So if you are looking for a tropical vacation with the kids or a romantic getaway, St Maarten is a great choice.
Blessings,
George

Bullying

Nina and I listened to a sermon Sunday about bullying and hurtful words and I was motivated to write about it on my blog.

Recently Florida officials charged two girls, ages 12 and 14, with felonies for allegedly taunting and bullying another 12-year-old girl until she committed suicide.  The arrests were made after one of the two girls posted on Facebook that she had bullied the victim, and didn't care that she had died.

The victim, who killed herself by jumping off a cement factory tower, was "terrorized" by as many as 15 girls who picked on her for months through online message boards and texts, according to authorities. One message said she should "drink bleach and die.'' The online harassment allegedly continued after she transferred to a different school.

The definition of bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.
After church Nina and I talked about bullying and both believe since the time we were growing up (60’s and 70’s) the internet and social media has made it easier to bully, and back then it seemed more common for your friends to speak up and support you. Ultimately, you could also choose to punch the bully in the nose!
Social media has made such a physical confrontation impossible, and the result of our insatiable need to assess blame in our litigious culture has created a paradigm of not getting involved as normal and appropriate behavior.  Those individuals who do jump on the subway tracks or rush into harms way are rightfully proclaimed as heros, because sadly, their actions are the exception.
Over time, any organized entity, be it a church, a business, a social club, or even a country, takes on the personality of their leader.  It is deplorable the example our national leaders exhibit when they publically belittle those of differing opinions and portray their diatribe as not only acceptable, but admirable. Such demeaning behavior is even more egregious on the “talk shows” of television and radio.
I was appalled to read about bullying in professional football and conclude that if formidable adult athletes are unable to prevent being subjected to such torment, it is no wonder that a child can rationalize an extreme solution such as suicide. And suicide is a tragedy because eventually the bullying will come to an end.
Which leads to the question of what can we do to stop bullying? The internet is filled with sites that provide resources and advice for the prevention of not only children, but teen, workplace and cyber bullying.
I have no simple answers other than to encourage us all to speak out when we see bullying perpetrated against those who feel so helpless and alone.  Thank you!

Spanking, Spray on Clothing, Socks, Snowmen & One Tactical Error

Hello,

It has been a busy start to the new year for me and time to write has been limited. Lots of flying going on, and that is unlikely to change for a while. However, I want to post a few odds and ends. Nothing of any noteworthy significance, just random thoughts.

As with many others, I received my first spanking of 2014 within a few days after the 1st. Nina and I were going to bed when I requested she spank me. She didn't hesitate and seeing the gleam in her eyes I am beginning to suspect my vanilla wife has begun to enjoy her part in TTWD! Or perhaps she is just getting even after the innumerable times I have aggravated her these last 37 years! Go Figure!

I removed my underwear and laid across her lap on the bed and she began giving me a most enjoyable hand spanking. I was relaxed and enjoying the moment, but after a couple of minutes she reached into her night stand and took out the wooden paddle! I have told Nina that I really don't ever want a wimpy spanking (I have read it is a guy thing). She proceeded to start paddling my bottom quite vigorously and before long I was owing and wriggling around on the bed.

My relaxed "enjoy the moment" moment had disappeared and although the spanking was painful, I became totally focused on the attention my back side was receiving and mentally was in the exact place I wanted and needed to be! After what she determined was an appropriate length of time (and my bottom had become a nice shade of red) she put the paddle away. I thanked her for the spanking and we proceeded to have some other fun *wink* because that spanking sure made us wide awake and hot for each other!

I saw an article about spray on clothing. Someone has developed an aerosol can that will spray a substance which adheres to your skin and after drying, turns into an article of clothing than can be worn, removed, washed and worn again! Seems like stuff from the Jetson's! If you are interested, just google "spray on clothing" to see more pictures and videos!

Here is a totally unrelated subject I have wondered about. Why is it that socks appear to wear out faster when you wear them without shoes? After all, are socks not subject to the same pressure as when worn inside your shoes?

Since we are in the heart of winter here in the northern hemisphere, and much of the USA and Canada have seen quite a bit of snowy weather, I thought you might enjoy the thought of a few snowmen departing this earth and this cartoon of a snowman's funeral.  May they rest in peace.

Last, I saw this at the airport in Miami and it reminded me of my college days! If we only knew then what we know now! I once made the tactical error of telling my daughter, whilst in the presence of Nina, that college was the best time of your life! But quickly added....until you get married! LOL

I am off again into the wild blue yonder for the next few days. So until next time....

Hugs and Blessings

A pain in the a$$ to sit

Hello, sorry I have been away for a while and have not had the opportunity to read, much less comment. Nina's mom had neck surgury and afterwards was unable to move her right side. She is in rehab now doing better, and we traveled to see her, which has kept us both preoccupied for the last couple of weeks. I am so far behnd on Ana's advent calender that it still seems like early December! I cannot believe it is so close to Christmas!

Today I decided to write a light hearted post about a subject we are all familiar with. I suspect from the title you are thinking spanking....well nope. I am talking about the recurring male/female dynamic regarding the position of the toilet seat! Leave it up or down, that is the question. It takes no more effort to raise than to lower, so I wondered what was the big deal?

I believe the axiom never judge another until you have walked in their shoes. So I decided to conduct an experiement. I picked a day and everytime I went to the bathroom, all day, I sat! Gracious me girls, but what a pain in the a$$! :-) The extra effort to remove and then restore one's attire is a lot more trouble than it seems. I understand now how one more step in an already multi-step process is just plain irritating! I offer a challenge to any males to give it a try. Makes you really appreciate the simplicity of our anatomy!

OK, I suspect about now a few of you girls are thinking, yep, God made it simple to match everything else about guys! :-) Maybe so, but then......why do girls always go to the restroom in pairs! Lets just all say "whatever"....and thank the Lord for our differences!!!

Merry Christmas to all!
