A Random Thought

I was at the grocery store the other day and found myself observing some of the other shoppers and thought, I wonder if they are into TTWD?  I also find myself doing this at any public venue. I think, what if they are just as interested as I and we could somehow connect and share our stories.

I have read the early Christians during the time of Roman persecution, used the sign of the fish or Ichthys as a code  to express their affinity to Christianity. Ichthys is the Ancient Greek word for "fish." The "Christian fish," or "Jesus fish" symbol consists of two intersecting arcs tracing the outline of a fish (most commonly with the fish "swimming" to the left) One person would draw half and if the other was also a Christian, they would complete the picture by drawing the other half.

I was at a restaurant the other night and while waiting for our dinner, got in to a very nice conversation with the couple at the table next to ours. We talked about where we each lived, our vocations, sports and parts of the country we liked best. It was a very nice dinner experience and I thought, what if they were a TTWD couple? As comfortable as I was talking with them, it just didn't seem like the thing to ask!

That's when I thought, wouldn't it be great if we had a secret symbol and could communicate with random others just like the early Christians! It was just a passing thought and although not practical, I decided to share it here on my blog.

I am certain I will continue to observe and wonder about passing strangers and hope they are as lucky as Nina and I. Anyone else want to admit to being as crazy curious as I am?

Blessings,
George

  1. Definitely curious but just as I am about to ask, I swallow instead! Too afraid I will be wrong! :)

    1. Sara, I know what you mean. It is kind of like asking "are you pregnant"? Sure better be right on that one too. LOL!

  2. LOL George...a secret symbol or maybe a secret handshake? I have seen couples in the mall and restaurants and based on their behavior...I have to wonder if they are practicing TTWD. With today's reactionary society, even if they did, I doubt if they would admit it. Still fun to think about. ;)

    1. Thanks Cat.....maybe some day. And yes I agree that in todays society folks would probably be hesitant admitting it even with a secret code.

  3. Barney and I do that all the time. Mostly I look at other women's bums and say something to Barney about them. Actually I remember being in an airport in Vancouver and I was chatting with another woman ( ttwd) on chat and said, " Hey the guy in the next row looks like_________ her husband, and has huge hands I wonder if they do tttd? " . My next sentence to her was " Ah such a waste...she literally has NO BUM" LOL! BTW it was true she was like fused at the hips!

    Interesting thought George

    1. Willie, you are the only woman I know that points out others women's butts to their husband! LOL You are a real treasure! It is amazing how some people possess bottoms that are just made to be spanked! I wonder if you saw Nina and I at the airport if we would raise your suspicions? :-)

    2. Hmm George I have to admit, I don't normally look at man bum's to see if they are spankable. You might have started a new hobby for me !

  4. Hey George, oh yes, I definitely watch people and wonder all the time too. Occasionally we will be out together and see a couple and whisper about whether we think they may be a ttwd couple.

Some kind of secret code ... what a great idea! :)

    1. Hi Roz, well it appears that I am not alone in my curiosity about strangers. Although we may never know, it certainly makes for a fun pastime when we are out and about!

  5. I don't tend to wonder often, but when I see a woman being submissive, or a man being dominant, I do tend to wonder then. :) Having a sign like the Ichthus would be great! Would make it so much easier to relate, and if they didn't understand when we drew half the symbol, we could just say we were doodling! :)

    1. Hi Es May. I thought it would be a great way to find out about strangers we meet, or even our new friends. However, I have no idea how one would go about getting it started, so I guess we will just have to go on speculating (and admittedly that is fun)!

  6. I think you're on to something! Yep, I wonder all the time. Mostly I wonder because it would be so nice to have someone to sit down and have coffee with and have a live conversation. On the other hand if there were a symbol how many would be brave enough to openly wear it? Clara

    1. Hi Clara and welcome,

It appears unanimous that we all look and wonder about others we see. I think to have a special friend IRL that we can share with is also a unanimous wish, but unfortunately only a minority are so lucky. I have only one real life friend who knows we practice TTWD and they live too far away to get together very often :-(

  7. Hi George,

I think a special symbol would be very useful. There is the BDSM symbol, but that's not entirely appropriate for those of us only into spanking. We must come up with something.

    1. Hi Hermione, thanks for stopping by. I agree that BSDM does not aptly describe what a lot of us do, so we definitely need our own secret ID. Perhaps one of the more creative among us can design something. I can tell you it wouldn't be me. I still draw a house as a square with a triangle on top for the roof!
