Happy Thanksgiving

                    Happy Thanksgiving!

Whether it is an official holiday where you live or not, I hope your day today is a blessed one. I have more to be thankful for, and more blessings than I deserve. However, today I want to express my thanks for this community.

I see how open and true people are about sharing their thoughts and feelings. At work or at church, or even with some family members, when you ask "how are you doing", you almost always hear the perfunctory "I'm doing great, thanks"! But here, feelings and problems as well as joys and concerns are fully shared.....and then listened to with sympathy and understanding, and in the joyous moments, genuine celebration.

I am thankful for what I have learned about how women think! Not that I will ever totally get it! Reminds me of the joke about the man who found a bottle and when he rubbed it a genie came out. The genie granted him one wish, so he said "I have always wanted to visit Hawaii, but I am afraid of boats and planes so please construct a highway from California so I can drive". The genie said do you know how impossibly difficult that would be, are you crazy? Isn't there anything else you want. The man thought and then said "OK tell me how to understand women". The genie then asked, do you want that to be a two lane or four lane highway!

Ladies, reading your words expressing your innermost feelings and thoughts has given me an opportunity to see things from a different perspective. For that I am thankful!

I am especially thankful for the special friends I have met here. Although you are miles away, you have greeted me like a new next door neighbor, knocking on my door and offering a smile and a dozen fresh baked chocolate chip cookies just to say hello and welcome. I know as a spanked male, I am in a minority, yet I feel accepted and indeed even encouraged to join in the conversations. Thank you.

I am not naive enough to believe that everyone is as they appear and I realize there are those who might even have nefarious motives. But I have yet to see anyone who has not been caring, kind, supportive and respectful of others. In summary, if this were a real town, I would not want to live anywhere else!

Hugs and Blessings to all,
George

  6. Hello George! Popping by and saying hello. :)

I love that joke about understanding women. Heaven bless anyone who can! Though I think likewise goes for men. :D

Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.

    1. Anastasia, thanks for stopping by. I guess traveling the road of life together is what makes it interesting.

I really enjoy hanging out with my guy friends, however, our conversations are usually about women, sports, airplanes/cars, sex, the weather and women.

Reading here in blogland, it is a different world, although I do find a commonality. Women also seem to enjoy talking about men and sex! It is just that women also talk about other stuff too! LOL

      Blessings,
      George

  7. Hope that you and Nina had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day, George!! :)

That is a really cute joke. So they'd rather build a highway??? LOL!

I agree with the others. Your contributions have helped us to get a sense of what kinds of things make our guys tic as well! Thank you for that! And thank you for sharing your beautiful photos as well! Many hugs,

  9. This is a wonderful post, George. As a newbie myself, you took the words right out of my mouth about this wonderful community and put them in such a poignant and eloquent way. You are an integral resident here -- I enjoy reading your perspective on things.

I'm so glad to have met you. I'm not moving out of this town, either!

Glad you and Nina had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

    ((Hugs))

  10. Good morning Sadie, I can see straight away that we are going to be friends. After all, how can anyone not like a girl that uses the word poignant! Seriously, I am so happy you are here and thank you for the kind words.

Glad you enjoyed the joke, it is one of my favorites. I like Sadie, it is a good moniker. Have you decided to adopt it? If so that means we have a commonality in as much as we both have been influenced by a certain fiesty Canadian *wink* :-)

    Hugs and Blessings,
    George

  11. What??? You still don't understand the female gender?? Well Luke has a wife and four daughters and we still keep him guessing too, LOL. Now, I have a few questions about how the male mind works. How much time do you have, George?

    1. Clara, OMG, four daughters and a wife. Reminds me of Tevye in Fidler on the Roof! Luke has my undying admiration! Seriously, even though they can keep me guessing, I wouldn't trade my two girls for anything.

I recommend for understanding the male mind, apply the principle of Occam's Razor and you will be close every time.

      Blessings and hugs,
      George

P.S. Occams Razor states "when you have two competing theories that make exacty the same predictions, the simpler one is the better". In other words, we are far more simple-minded than women can imagine! LOL
